With more than 200 different codes in the INAMI physiotherapy nomenclature, it can be difficult to find your way around. The purpose of this article is to explain this nomenclature in order to more easily find the code associated with the service provided by the healthcare provider.
Distribution according to the pathological situation
Pathologies requiring physiotherapy sessions are divided into different groups. These groups are the first criterion for determining a code:
- Group 1: Common pathology. This group corresponds to everything not listed in the other groups.
- Group 2: Severe pathology (List E). Many pathologies are found in this list (chronic inflammatory polyarthritis of immune origin, central neurological conditions with extensive motor deficits, myopathies…).
- Group 3: Pathologies allowing a second session on the same day. This includes intensive care, care given to premature and weak newborns…
- Group 4: Pregnancy and postpartum, as part of childbirth preparation and postnatal rehabilitation.
- Group 5: Acute pathologies (F-a list). This group includes services for non-hospitalized patients with pathologies from the F-a list.
- Group 6: Chronic pathologies (F-b list). This group includes services for non-hospitalized patients with pathologies from the F-b list.
- Group 7: Palliative home care. A justification for a second session on the same day can be added to the file.
- Group 8: Day hospital patient. This group does not include pathology but a single service for each patient admitted to day hospital.
Distribution according to the place where the service is performed
After determining the care group, physiotherapy services must be classified according to the place of practice.
- In the office of the physiotherapist
- At the home of the beneficiary
- For a non-hospitalized patient staying in a community residence for disabled persons
- For a non-hospitalized patient staying in a psychiatric care residence
- At the hospital, for hospitalized patients
- In a contracted functional rehabilitation center
- For a patient in a community residence for the elderly
Distribution according to the nature of the service
There are three types of physiotherapy services.
- The individual physiotherapy session. The code is determined based on its duration, its rank in the day, the maximum authorized sessions, and whether it is lymphatic drainage or not.
- The consultative examination of the patient by the physiotherapist.
- The written report.
The Kiné-Helper application has a code selector that allows you to determine the code you need to certify your services, based on these categories.
